Prof. Markku Kanninen: He has been involved in tropical forest research for about 30 years. Prior to his current position, he was Director of the Environmental Services and Sustainable Use of Forests Program of CIFOR (2003-2010); Deputy Director General of CATIE (Costa Rica) (1996-2003); and earlier the Director of The Finnish Research Program on Climate Change (1990-1995). Recently, he was Lead Author of the IPCC Special Report on 1.5. degree. He is member of the 15-person Finnish Climate Panel. He has more than 350 publications (more than 80 publications in refereed scientific journals). He received the Nobel Peace Prize as a member of the IPCC in 2007. |

Nicholas Hogarth: He has over 12-years’ experience living and working in the Global South on forestry and rural development issues, including field-research and capacity-building. Geographical foci include China, Laos, Indonesia, and Cambodia, but he also has long-term experience co-managing a 24-country research project on forests and livelihoods. He has also worked as a consultant for the UN, CIFOR, Australian Aboriginal Corporations, and others. Key expertise include: analysing rural livelihoods, design of household data collection tools, field-based data collection, quantification of forest & environmental income, forest landscape restoration, small and large-scale tree plantations, bamboo, scientific writing and editing, systematic reviews, project monitoring and evaluation. |

Adrian Monge: Over the last 20 years, Adrián has been working on research and capacity building projects in Africa, Southeast Asia and Latin America. His experience includes teaching forestry and environmental issues in Finland and abroad, preparation, coordination and implementation of e-learning courses, drafting and submitting research and development cooperation proposals. Key expertise areas include: developing digital tools for data collection, forest and climate change (adaptation and mitigation), forest inventories and management, participatory research, and ecosystem services. |

Dipjoy Chakma: Dipjoy Chakma holds a MSc degree (Agri. & For.) from University of Helsinki majoring in Forest Products Marketing. His expertise includes non-timber forest products research and market analysis, livelihood analysis, forest policy analysis, and project management. He has over 8 years of research and professional experiences in Mekong region. He is fluent in Chakma (native), English and Bengali; competent in Lao and Hindi, and has basic skill in Finnish. |
ALBERT LUDWIGS UNIVERSITY FREIBURG

Prof. Benno Pokorny: worked as a postgraduate lecturer for socio-economy at the Federal University of Rural Amazon (UFRA) in Brazil and was Senior Associated Researcher of the Centre of International Forestry Research (CIFOR). Since 2003, Benno is a professor for Forestry and Rural Development at the Faculty of Environment and Natural Resources at the University of Freiburg. For more than 20 years, he has been studying the role of smallholders and forests in the context of rural development in the tropics and subtropics in Latin-America, Asia and Africa. He has coordinated several international R&D projects on local development. |

Steffen Entenmann: works as a research associate at the Faculty of Environment and Natural Resources at the University of Freiburg. His research interests are at the nexus of rural development and sustainable land use. He lectures courses such as Global Environmental Changes, Carbon Forestry, Plantation Forestry, Natural Resources Management in Central Asia, or Integrated Land Use Systems at the Faculty of Environment and Natural Resources at the University of Freiburg. |

Jiří Remeš: with about 30 years of experience in silvicultural systems, Dr. Remeš is one of the leading experts in Czech Republic on the topics of evaluation of silvicultural systems and forest regeneration, restoration of forest ecosystems as well as close-to-nature silviculture and cultivation of introduced tree species in the Czech Republic. He is the lecturer of the Silviculture course at CZU and guarantees the Master study program Forest Engineering. As a former vice-dean and now a vice-rector for Teaching and Learning, he has extensive experience in creating and innovating study programs at CZU. |

Prof. Róbert Marušák: focuses his research on optimization and the decision support systems in forestry, with regard to forest monitoring and inventory. With more than 20 years of teaching and research experience in the field of forest resource planning and inventory, he has extensive knowledge, applicable to forestry higher education and practice. Currently he serves as the vice-dean for international relations at the Faculty of Forestry and Wood Sciences, CZU. |

Radek Rinn: the current vice-dean for development and operational programmes at the Faculty of Forestry and Wood Sciences, CZU. As a doctoral student at the Department of Forestry and Wood Economics, his research interests include the economics of forestry, project management in forestry, ecosystem services, and bioeconomy in forestry. His extensive experience in the operational programmes and grants of the European Union are vital for project coordination at CZU. |

Martin Jankovský: his research interests include forestry technologies and operations. Namely human factors in forestry, an interest, which began in his PhD. Thesis, where he studied the interactions between the machine and environment systems on forestry workers and their physiological response to mental and physical loading. Aside from that, he also studies the environmental effects of forest harvesting machinery on forest stands. Martin’s teaching experience includes lecturing courses focused on the human factors and ergonomics, and forest harvesting at the Technical University in Zvolen, Slovakia and the Faculty of Forestry and Wood Sciences, CZU. |
NATIONAL UNIVERSITY OF LAOS

Latsamy Boupha (Dean, Faculty of Forestry Science, NUoL). She has more than 20 years research experiences in wood sciences and forestry economic in Laos. She is recently key person on research projects at the Faculty of Forest Sciences of the National University of Laos, which include Value Adding into Lao Plantation, Plantation Policies and Economic; etc. Associate Prof. Dr. Latsamy used to be a Chair of Lao Network for Agroforestry Education during 2005-2009, during the same period of time (2005-2009) she also worked as a project coordinator of South East Asia for Agroforestry Education. Apart from working as the Dean of the Faculty of Forest Sciences, Associate Prof. Dr. Latsamy Boupha also work as project coordinator for ACAIR project “Enhancing Key Elements of the Value Chains for plantation-growth in Lao PDR”. |

Kaisone Phengsopha, the Deputy Director of Postgraduate Office of the National University of Laos. He used to worked as the Head of Postgraduate Division of the Faculty of Forest Sciences before lifted up to NUoL. Kaisone receive his PhD in Forest Economics focusing on international timber trade from the University of Melbourne, Australia. He has 20 years research experiences in forest governance and policy development related issues in Laos. He mainly teaches forestry law, policy, natural resource management and other related subjects. Kaisone is one of the key persons establishment of mobile conservation Unit at the Faculty of Forest Sciences, NUoL. |

Thoumthone Vongvisouk, Head of Postgraduate Division, Faculty of Forest Sciences, National University of Laos. Dr. Thoumthone has more then 10 years experiences in research in relation to resource governance, land use changes and climate change related issues. During 2003-2006, he worked as local project coordinator for IDRC funded project “Research Capacity Building on Community Resource Governance”. A part from his position at the Faculty of Forest Science, he also work as part time post doc under R4D-telecoupled landscape in Lao PDR in collaboration with the University of Bern Switzerland. |

Bounthieng VONGSOUANGTHAM is currently a project coordinator at Souphanouvong University (SU). She graduated from department of English, NUOL with a Bachelor of Arts in 2004 and obtained her Master degree in English as a Second Language from the Faculty of Linguistics, National University of Lao in 2014. She has been working on various research projects on training programme for English Language Education in Cambodia, Malaysia and Thailand. Her research interests include environmental communication, professional communication and Language for Specific Purposes (LSP) |

Vongpasith CHANTHAKHOUN the current Acting-Dean of Faculty of Agriculture and Forest Resources, Souphanouvong University, Laos. His lectures courses such as Experimental and Analysis Design, Nutrition, Design Thinking. He has extensive experience in creating and innovating academic activities and study programs. His research interests are at Animal Nutrition, Food Safety and Rural Development (He has more than 40 publications as sown at Google scholar on Citations about 242 since 2014 and 10 of I 10-index). He has experience for national consultants on SPS project in Laos, funded by ADB and coordinates several activities on R&D projects on Natural Resource use to Increase the Income for Smallholder Farmer |

Bounxian PHETLUMPHUN holds a MSc degree in Park Recreation and Tourism at the Kasetsart University, Bangkok, Thailand. His research and teaching activities center on Assessment of recreation resource potential and classification of recreation opportunity spectrum of nature-based recreation. As a Head of Department forest resource, Faculty of Agriculture and Forest resource, Suphanouvong University. He has experience for national consultants on Sanitary and Phytosanitary Standard: SPS project in Laos. |

Somphong Chanthavong: Somphong Chanthavong holds a MSc degree in Natural Resources Conservation, awarded by the Asia Institute of Technology, Bangkok, Thailand and a PhD. degree in Environmental Science and Management, awarded by the University of the Philippines Los Baňos, Philippines. His research interests include nature conservation and economic production of forests in Southeast Asia. His extensive experience in teaching includes topics such as forest ecology, nature conservation, environmental impact assessment and more. |

His research and teaching activities center around rural development and agricultural engineering. He has extensive experience in creating and innovating academic activities and study programs. |

Bounheuang Ninchaleune: Bounheuang Ninchaleune holds a MSc degree in Forestry, awarded by the University of Technology Dresden, Germany. He holds a PhD. Degree awarded by the University Putra Malaysia, Malaysia for a dissertation entitled Impact of Agriculture practices and Forest Utilization on Socio-Economic and Environment of Vientiane Province, Lao PDR. His research centers around environmental impact assessment and soil sciences. As a Vice President for Academic Affairs of the Savannakhet University, he has extensive experience in developing HEI curricula. |
